Signs of a Legitimate Ski Job
- Posted on the company's official website or career portal
- Clear job description with specific duties and requirements
- Contact information using a company email domain
- Realistic salary expectations for the ski industry
- Professional interview process via video call or in-person
- No upfront fees required from applicants
Red Flags to Watch For
- Requests for payment before hiring
- Asking for bank account or passport details early
- Vague job descriptions or unrealistic pay
- Communication only via WhatsApp or personal email
- Pressure to decide immediately
- No interview process required
- Requests to pay for visas or accommodation deposits
- Company doesn't appear in web searches
Instructor Course Awareness
Note about Ski Instructor Courses: Legitimate instructor courses (BASI, CSIA, etc.) do require payment - typically Β£8,000-12,000 for comprehensive programs. These are educational investments, not job scams.
However, be wary of courses that guarantee employment or make unrealistic promises about job placement rates.
How to Verify an Employer
- Search the company name online - legitimate companies have web presence
- Check Companies House (UK) or equivalent business registries
- Look for reviews on Glassdoor, Indeed, or ski forums
- Verify the job listing appears on the company's official website
- Research the interviewer on LinkedIn
